random fantasy book generator

Recently I mentioned my criteria for fantasy books I wouldn’t read. I’ve expanded that into a random fantasy title generator:

Actually, some of these don’t look that bad. When paging through, for instance, I saw Kings of the Dead, which, I don’t know, I might take a look at.

If you see any title that you might actually pick up, leave it in the comments!

“The Apprentice Giant” is intriguingly mystifying. How is someone an apprentice giant?
“Forests’ Cats” represents everything I hate about fantasy. “Cat and Rider” is not much better.
I bet “Jack and Giant” is by Gregory Maguire.

“Glass Magic 3: Twilight of the Fairie”

This title has a lot going for it. It’s the third of a three book series. It has to do with “Glass Magic” which is sharp and dangerous. It has the title “Twilight of the Fairie,” so the fairies fade out or are destroyed, how often does that happen?

Probably the biggest thing going for this book is the word “Twilight” in the title. No fan of the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyers can pass up anything that has the word “Twilight” on it. Put it on a box of cereal, they’ll buy it, and they will only be disappointed that the little white marshmallows aren’t shaped like Edward but it’s all good cause the cereal box says….”Twilight”

I bet you anything that Book 1 of “Glass Magic” is called “Dawn of the Fairie”.

    A Game of Tales! Awesome

    I want to read Princessfall!

Stones of the Child. This sounds like a serious book that will speak to an entire generation.

  6. Baf says:

Book 2 of Glass Magic probably isn’t Noon of the Fairie, though.

    My favorites so far:
    Stone Stones
    Twilightdawns

“The Skeletons of Fairies” is a deeply lyrical examination of loss and grief. It is Mr. Blunder’s first book of poems.

    “Moon Vampires”
If a regular vampire is a Sun Vampire, Moon Vampires have it pretty sweet.

“Giants of the Summer 7: Twilight of Smoke Skeletons”

Dragons and the Skeleton Skeleton 5: Shadows of the Iron”

I feel your pain. A very similar motivation caused me to create my Paranormal Romance Gen: http://chaoticshiny.com/promance.php

I read a lot of urban fantasy and they put the paranormal romance in the same place (instead of in the romance section) and I hate accidentally picking up one of those.

“Skeleton’s Wilds 9: Legend of the Magic ” actually sound pretty good. I’m picturing some wilderness previously explored only by the famous pirate Jack Skeleton, who left buried treasure all over. In book 9 of this epic series, we learn the secret to Skeleton’s success on the high seas: he was a mage!

Cats of Giants sounds a little too badass. Why do the giants have all those cats?!

    Night’s Knights! A clever pun!

“Dragon and Knight Smoke”: self explanatory. I might read this one.

“Winter King, Ice Twilight 6: Fall of Dreams”: The generator is clearly on task here.

“Dragonflight”: perhaps the generator should link to Amazon every time it generates a title for a book that actually exists!

“Dude, I had a crazy idea. What if we fought each other”
    “hehehehe”

Shadow Magic 8: Smoke of the Magic Healer

OK first off, I can’t stand book series that go for like 20 volumes. It’s ridiculous. Are we really expected to believe he couldn’t say what he needed to say about Shadow Magic in a trilogy? they do this because they like money and because sci-fi readers are notorious for chewing through vast quantities of bad fiction.

Second, I like the idea of a magician based on smoke-magic. It sounds cool and mysterious and ninja-like, and would be good for Illusionists.

Third, what the heck is a Magic Healer? Is that someone who heals using magic? Then why wouldn’t you call someone a Mouth Eater? Which means it must be a person who heals magic. Magic can be injured? Oh right, so it’s basically a Preserver from Dark Sun.

‘Skeleton of Blood’ and ‘Crystal Death, Smoke Lion’

Neither of these would be good books, but they’d make absolutely incredible kung fu movies. More to the wuxia side of things so the villain could have mystic powers of some sort instead of just being a corrupt mob boss/landlord who’s good at fighting (or hires goons who are).
